Good to hear it Layne, keep your head held high, get some rest and be patient, your best days are yet to come.

Re: Partial Pec Tear surgery
Layne –
Thought I’d use my first MM post to show my support. You don’t know me, but I’m one of the (perhaps countless) people you’ve helped inspire over the years. I started BB about 4.5 years ago now, and as a lifetime natural, have always kept up with your progress, competition schedule, videos, etc., to help stay motivated. You’ve been an inspirational person to me and I’m confident you will continue to be as you work through this injury and come back stronger.
Keep your head up!

Re: Partial Pec Tear surgery
Layne,
Good luck with your recovery. I had almost the same tear. I had tears in 4 locations- the muscle tendon junction full tear, 90 % tendon of bone, full pec minor tear and majority pec major tear. Dr Moorman out fo Duke performed mine (he assited on Kevin Levrones).
I tore my left pec ( i am left handed)- so I was in a sling longer to make sure not to use it for a while. I was alowed to take arm out for sling 1 hour a day after 2 weeks to start and do bent over arm circles. My time out of the sling increased every week- Had surgury in July 25 was able to start doing other exercises in Jan- Surgeon and PT wanted me to fully recover and allwo the pec tendon juction to full heal before any strain was put on it.
As you already know the 1st 3 days are the worse- the pain was pretty intense. Afer 3 days I didnt need pain meds but once a day. The other hard thing is getting dressed and showering- I was lucky to have a cool wife who helped me shower and dress for a few weeks as I was unable to move my arm much.
I have finished my therapy now and have full mobility- when you go to PT ask for the laser- its a laser that helped the healing process. Back in the gym for the first time in 7 months- slwo start but with our work ethic it will come back soon.
My biggest recomendation is to go slow do not try ot do anything before surgeon and PT release you.
Good luck and speedy recovery

Re: Partial Pec Tear surgery
Hard to tell if I have deformity currently- I lost alot of size- the area where they cut and drilled the rivits is really atrophied- the surgeon and PT guy said once I regain size it should be symetrical- will let you know more in a few weeks when I start putting size back on.
Did they cut you at the shoulder or in underam area? Mine is in the underarm- surgoun was trying to hid ethe scar.

Re: Partial Pec Tear surgery
How bad is the pain? Mine was severe the 1st 2 nights after surgery- and I like you walked around for 8 weeks with a full torn pec- that wasnt bad, but after the surgery and once the numbing agent went away- Damn it hurt. By day 3-4 it is more of a dull pain- after a week I felt 0 pain. You will feel more pain in your wrist and elbows then your pec- I complained that my wrist and elbows hurt more.
You had a good surgeon- alot of surgeon cut you in the delt (easier to get to but throws of symetry) guys that go in by underarm do it for us to help with bodybuilding.
What are you doing for supps? My surgeon had me get on Bromalein (sp) and a few others that I cant think of currently

Your shoulder will get quite stiff from not being able to move it.
Glad your healing up.

Re: Partial Pec Tear surgery
I forgot how stiff my shoulder got- once you start your shoulder circles the shoulder will loosen up a tad.

Re: Partial Pec Tear surgery
I didn't have surgery. i have mobility to train everything else besides chest and M. Press. I have a lot of scar tissue that I need to get worked out. I see a little deformity may be due to not being able to train chest. Hopefully when I am able to get blood circulating to my chest things will fill back out. Take it slow bro. Good luck!

Re: Partial Pec Tear surgery
Layne, I didnt take the time to read throught all the posts on here.....but, i had the same injury 2 years ago, a little worse, but same exact thing. I talked to many surgeons about it and they highly recommended against surgery and to just use physical therapy. Well it healed 100% and I have no lingering pain or discomfort, but the deformity is 100% still there. I had a couple photoshoots since then and I can hide it for the most part, but its definately noticeable.
